2010 EMISSIONS INFORMATION - DIESEL ENGINES - EGR vs SCR Video

2010 Emissions Information

NEW 2010 EPA Mandates
In 2010, the EPA is requiring new vehicles to achieve a new diesel exhaust emissions regulations limit, which is .2 NOx (g/hp-hr), down from 1.2 in 2007. International took a different path from the rest of the OEMs by choosing an Advanced EGR solution such as the International MaxxForce™ engines.

MaxxForce Advanced EGR Engines take the burden off of the customer - SCR engines require costly maintenance
When the EPA's new requirements take effect next year, truck buyers will have only two choices when you purchase a commercial vehicle: a truck that will reduce carbon emissions in-cylinder using Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), or a truck that will be forced to reduce its carbon emissions by adding an expensive fuel additive fluid called (urea). Urea unfortunately does not have a distribution system in place yet for easy access to the end customers, truck drivers. The (urea) will then go through an after treatment system Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). With MaxxForce™ Advanced EGR engines, your company's maintenance and operating requirements won't change for your mechanics or your drivers! The SCR solution will require changes including significant add-on after-treatment equipment which will require new maintenance and servicing requirements for your technicians. This alone, will cause an increase in your company's overall operating cost. It's very clear that with SCR, the burden is on you, the customer. Watch the tutorial videos below explaining both solutions and you too will believe that MaxxForce™ Advanced EGR engines just makes more sense.

Why International Customers not have to worry about 2010 Emissions
With International choosing the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) method of reducing carbon emissions, ALL International MaxxForce Engines will be the SAME! No expensive and cumbersome (UREA) additive or complicated body modifications will be needed as they will with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems.

Easy Advanced EGR vs Complex SCR
Get ALL the information you need by watching the 2010 Emissions videos below to find out how your commercial fleets are going to be affected by choosing a complicated SCR system instead of going with the easy International EGR solution.
